# The Thorn Institute

> A Melbourne-based institute for the structured exploration of consciousness — introductory to advanced. Sound science, books, programs, retreats and advisory work.

The Thorn Institute is a small, long-horizon project based in Melbourne, Australia. We do not sell enlightenment and we do not trade in dogma. We share frameworks, patterns, and the repeated observations of experiencers, scientists, researchers, cultures and recorded histories.

Our work sits at the intersection of contemplative practice, phenomenology and audio-assisted state work (including Monroe Sound Science and binaural beats). The Institute is led by Daniel Spina and supported by a small network of advisors and practitioners.

- We use "we" and "us" because Thorn is an organisation, not a personal brand.
- We treat experiential reports, scientific evidence and contemplative traditions as complementary lines of evidence rather than competing camps.
- The Institute is not presented as a formal research organisation; it is a structured, accessible institute for practice, programmes, reading and inquiry.
